DESCRIPTION:Carbine Overview\nTwo separate events in one weekend! Choose Carbine 1 on Saturday OR Carbine 2 on Sunday. Do BOTH clinics at a discounted rate! \nPrerequisites: Basic Rifle or similar class for Carbine 1. Basic Rifle AND Basic Pistol\, Carbine 1\, etc.\, for Carbine 2. \nFirearm Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. Any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (AK-47\, SKS\, Mini-14\, M1A1\, etc.). For Sunday’s Carbine 2 clinic\, a safe\, modern semi-automatic pistol (Glock\, Smith & Wesson M&P\, etc.) is also required. \nShooters should have a sling on their carbine (a “tactical” one point or two point sling works well) and an outside the waistband holster for their handgun. Magazines & ammunition should be carried in pouches or pockets. Kit up! Wear your cool guy operator gear! \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 200 rounds/day \nRequired Equipment: \n\nhearing protection\neye protection\nat least two magazines for your carbine (more is better) and pistol (for Carbine 2)\nsling for your carbine (single point\, 2-pt or 3-pt adjustable “tactical sling” is recommended)\nlunch (we’ll be staying on the range during lunch break)\nwater and something to replace electrolytes (what plants crave)\nsnacks\n\nOptional Equipment: \n\na way to take notes\ncarbine/pistol/optic manual(s)\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we may shoot from kneeling and other positions)\nfolding chair\nsmall tool kit / cleaning kit\n\nClinic Overview: Attendees will experience shooting in multiple firing positions at varying distances and will learn modern defensive shooting skills on the AR platform. All firing in this course will be within 100 yards with a focus on the close quarters environment from contact to 100 yards. You will get a workout with all the skills needed to run the carbine from 7-100 yards. The focus is on short range marksmanship. Carbine 2 will incorporate transitioning to secondary weapons systems. \nThis class is moderately physically demanding. Arlington\, at the time\, was known as Menotomy and more colonial militiamen were killed at Monotomy than any other place that day. \nBritish Redcoats were retreating back to Boston after being trounced at Concord’s North Bridge and Merriam’s Corner when they encountered heavy resistance along the road. SUMMARY:Defensive Pistol - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Defensive Pistol Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Intro to Defensive Pistol or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 7 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 500 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Defensive Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Either IWB (“inside the waistband”) or OWB (“outside the waistband”) are fine\, but the holster you intend to use for concealed carry would be preferred. An OWB holster is often easier to use if you have never drawn from a holster before but will still allow you to participate fully in the drills we will conduct. The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Defensive Pistol begins with an overview of the range rules\, safety procedures and quick reminder of the fundamentals from basic pistol. From there\, the course focuses on the mechanics of defensive pistol shooting. If after reading the event description you would like to participate\, please contact the Event Director to request an invitation. \nMarty Brown Memorial Invitational Overview\nThe Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ rifle match honors Marty Brown\, an instructor with Revere’s Riders who lost a 40-month battle with ovarian cancer in 2017. A portion of match proceeds will be donated to Ovar’coming Together to assist in their programs to support women diagnosed with ovarian cancer as well as funding ovarian cancer research. You can read more about Marty as well as Ovar’coming Together on the Marty Brown Memorial™ page of our website. \nThe comprehensive list of fundraising items for the 8th Annual Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ rifle match is available on the 2024 Marty Brown Memorial Invitational Swag Bags\, Give Aways\, Prizes\, Auctions page. \nMatch Information and Rules\nThe Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ rifle match is an informal 3-position known distance match shot according to the Revere’s Riders Rifle Qualification Test. This is an invitational match and you must be invited to attend. Marksmen will receive an invitation by satisfying one of the following: \n\nshoot a score of Marksman or better on the Revere’s Riders Rifle Qualification Test (must be in the same calendar year as the Invitational)\nsatisfy the Match Director that you are proficient and safe enough to participate\n\nThis is a competition match and no instruction will be provided. \nFor general match information and rules\, please see the Marty Brown Memorial Invitational Rifle Match Rules page. \nAdditional Event Information\nTicket sales end at 1700 on Oct. 25th in order for us to get a list of participants to Camp Atterbury security which will allow access to the base. \nTicket price includes all range fees. \nPre-registration is Required\nAll participants must purchase tickets by the DEADLINE of 5:00 PM on October 25\, 2024.  Absolutely no registrations will be allowed after this deadline.  The unique venue for this event requires that we share your name and other personal information you submit to Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC)\, Military Police and the Range Control office. Your information will not be used in any manner other than to allow your admittance to the installation and to contact you regarding this event. Pre-registration is required so that we can forward your information to CAJMTC in time for the event. You are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. \nRefund Policy\nEvent will be held RAIN or SHINE!\nCamp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. Refunds will only be issued for this event due to cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nArrival Time \nYou MUST Arrive On Time\nPlan to arrive NO LATER than 7:45AM. Anyone arriving later than this will not be allowed to participate in the event and your event fees will not be refunded. This is due to the need to meet at Range Control and proceed to the range as a group. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base; you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nDirections to Range Control \nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury main gate to access the military side of the base. When asked\, tell gate security that you are there for the Revere’s Riders event along with any other information gate security requests. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways (if the range is “hot”\, these should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. Range Control is reached by continuing south on the entrance road (Eggleston Street). Range Control will be on your left just before County Road 900 South. Himsel Airfield will be on your right just beyond the intersection of Eggleston Street and CR 900 S.  \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian lodging is available on base for those who wish to stay overnight. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. SUMMARY:Intro to Defensive Pistol - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Intro to Defensive Pistol Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Revere’s Riders Basic Pistol or similar. This is not an introductory course and participants are expected to be capable of the following: \n\nhandling their firearm in a safe manner\nkeeping shots within a 6″ square from approximately 7 yards\n\nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 250 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na rimfire pistol can be used for practice during some of the drills with a transition to your centerfire pistol to complete the drill (see the section on Rimfire Pistols below)\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \n\n\n\n\nRimfire Pistols: Due to the current cost and lack of availability of centerfire ammunition\, rimfire pistols will be allowed at this event subject to the following: \n\nsuitable centerfire/rimfire pistol combinations\, in order of preference\, are:\n\npairs of pistols such as the Glock 19 and Glock 44 that are nearly identical in size and function\npistols that are not as similar as the Glock 19/Glock 44 but still properly fit the same holster\nyour concealed carry centerfire pistol along with a .22LR conversion kit that is easy enough to swap in/out in a short period of time (<1 minute) without tools (e.g.\, a Glock 19 and the Advantage Arms .22LR Conversion Kit)\nseparate centerfire and rimfire pistols along with appropriate holsters for both (in a pinch\, you will be able to get by without a proper holster for your rimfire pistol)\n\n\nbring 250 rounds of quality rimfire ammunition (be picky about your rimfire ammunition as the cheap stuff is usually not very reliable; you can’t go wrong with CCI Mini-Mag\, Fiocchi\, or Federal)\nbring THREE (or more) magazines for your rimfire pistol (this is in addition to the THREE or more magazines for your centerfire pistol)\nappropriate holsters for both pistols (assuming your rimfire pistol does not properly fit your centerfire pistol holster)\n\nIT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SATISFACTORILY COMPLETE THIS COURSE WITH ONLY A RIMFIRE PISTOL! \nDuring the course\, you will use your rimfire pistol as initial practice for a given drill and then transition to your centerfire pistol to demonstrate competency.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Defensive Pistol equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Either IWB (“inside the waistband”) or OWB (“outside the waistband”) are fine\, but the holster you intend to use for concealed carry would be preferred. An OWB holster is often easier to use if you have never drawn from a holster before but will still allow you to participate fully in the drills we will conduct. The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. Any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (AK-47\, SKS\, Mini-14\, M1A1\, etc.). \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 200 rounds/day \nRequired Equipment: \n\nhearing protection\neye protection\nat least two magazines for your carbine (more is better)\nsling for your carbine (single point\, 2-pt or 3-pt adjustable “tactical sling” is recommended)\nlunch (we’ll be staying on the range during lunch break)\nwater and something to replace electrolytes (what plants crave)\nsnacks\n\nOptional Equipment: \n\na way to take notes\ncarbine/optic manual(s)\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we may shoot from kneeling and other positions)\nfolding chair\nsmall tool kit / cleaning kit\n\nClinic Overview: Attendees will experience shooting in multiple firing positions at varying distances and will learn modern defensive shooting skills on the AR platform. Arlington\, at the time\, was known as Menotomy and more colonial militiamen were killed at Monotomy than any other place that day. \nBritish Redcoats were retreating back to Boston after being trounced at Concord’s North Bridge and Merriam’s Corner when they encountered heavy resistance along the road. The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base; you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nDirections to Range Control \nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury main gate to access the military side of the base. When asked\, tell gate security that you are there for the Revere’s Riders event along with any other information gate security requests. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways (if the range is “hot”\, these should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. Range Control is reached by continuing south on the entrance road (Eggleston Street). Range Control will be on your left just before County Road 900 South. Himsel Airfield will be on your right just beyond the intersection of Eggleston Street and CR 900 S.  \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian lodging is available on base for those who wish to stay overnight. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \n\n\n\n\nRimfire Pistols: Due to the current cost and lack of availability of centerfire ammunition\, rimfire pistols will be allowed at this event subject to the following: \n\nsuitable centerfire/rimfire pistol combinations\, in order of preference\, are:\n\npairs of pistols such as the Glock 19 and Glock 44 that are nearly identical in size and function\npistols that are not as similar as the Glock 19/Glock 44 but still properly fit the same holster\nyour concealed carry centerfire pistol along with a .22LR conversion kit that is easy enough to swap in/out in a short period of time (<1 minute) without tools (e.g.\, a Glock 19 and the Advantage Arms .22LR Conversion Kit)\nseparate centerfire and rimfire pistols along with appropriate holsters for both (in a pinch\, you will be able to get by without a proper holster for your rimfire pistol)\n\n\nbring 250 rounds of quality rimfire ammunition (be picky about your rimfire ammunition as the cheap stuff is usually not very reliable; you can’t go wrong with CCI Mini-Mag\, Fiocchi\, or Federal)\nbring THREE (or more) magazines for your rimfire pistol (this is in addition to the THREE or more magazines for your centerfire pistol)\nappropriate holsters for both pistols (assuming your rimfire pistol does not properly fit your centerfire pistol holster)\n\nIT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SATISFACTORILY COMPLETE THIS COURSE WITH ONLY A RIMFIRE PISTOL! \nDuring the course\, you will use your rimfire pistol as initial practice for a given drill and then transition to your centerfire pistol to demonstrate competency.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Pistol 145 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Either IWB (“inside the waistband”) or OWB (“outside the waistband”) are fine\, but the holster you intend to use for concealed carry would be preferred. An OWB holster is often easier to use if you have never drawn from a holster before but will still allow you to participate fully in the drills we will conduct. The unique venue for this event requires that we share your name and other personal information you submit to Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC)\, Military Police and the Range Control office. Your information will not be used in any manner other than to allow your admittance to the installation and to contact you regarding this event. Pre-registration is required so that we can forward your information to CAJMTC in time for the event. You are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. \nRefund Policy\nEvent will be held RAIN or SHINE!\nCamp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. Refunds will only be issued for this event due to cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nArrival Time \nYou MUST Arrive On Time\nPlan to arrive NO LATER than 7:45AM. Anyone arriving later than this will not be allowed to participate in the event and your event fees will not be refunded. This is due to the need to meet at Range Control and proceed to the range as a group. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base; you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nDirections to Range Control \nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury “delivery gate” to access the military side of the base (major construction is under way at the “main gate”). \nWhen asked\, tell gate security that you are there for the Revere’s Riders event along with any other information gate security requests. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways (if the range is “hot”\, these should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. \nRange Control can be reached by either of two routes: \n\nRED highlighted route — continue south on Schoolhouse Road until you reach the four-way stop at County Line Road; turn left on County Line Road and proceed to the four-way stop at Eggleston Street; Range Control will be on the north-east corner of Eggleston and County Line Road\nBLUE highlighted route — turn left at the first four-way stop onto Headquarters Road; proceed to the four-way stop at Eggleston Street and turn right; Range Control will be on your left just before you reach County Line Road\n\n \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian lodging is available on base for those who wish to stay overnight. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nThe following are a good set of guidelines for an appropriate pistol for this event: \n\nbring the pistol you intend to use for concealed carry; leave the brand new pistol you bought the day before the event at home\na rimfire pistol can be used for practice during some of the drills with a transition to your centerfire pistol to complete the drill (see the section on Rimfire Pistols below)\na medium-frame pistol is often ideal for concealed carry (e.g.\, Glock 19 or similar); smaller pistols are difficult to shoot accurately and larger pistols are uncomfortable to carry all day long\nmake sure your pistol is in good working order; if in doubt\, have it checked by a qualified gunsmith or armorer. A pistol that malfunctions constantly will get you plenty of practice addressing malfunctions but not much practice with the drills\n\nIf you have any questions concerning the suitability of your pistol for this course\, please contact the Event Director. \n\n\n\n\nRimfire Pistols: Due to the current cost and lack of availability of centerfire ammunition\, rimfire pistols will be allowed at this event subject to the following: \n\nsuitable centerfire/rimfire pistol combinations\, in order of preference\, are:\n\npairs of pistols such as the Glock 19 and Glock 44 that are nearly identical in size and function\npistols that are not as similar as the Glock 19/Glock 44 but still properly fit the same holster\nyour concealed carry centerfire pistol along with a .22LR conversion kit that is easy enough to swap in/out in a short period of time (<1 minute) without tools (e.g.\, a Glock 19 and the Advantage Arms .22LR Conversion Kit)\nseparate centerfire and rimfire pistols along with appropriate holsters for both (in a pinch\, you will be able to get by without a proper holster for your rimfire pistol)\n\n\nbring 250 rounds of quality rimfire ammunition (be picky about your rimfire ammunition as the cheap stuff is usually not very reliable; you can’t go wrong with CCI Mini-Mag\, Fiocchi\, or Federal)\nbring THREE (or more) magazines for your rimfire pistol (this is in addition to the THREE or more magazines for your centerfire pistol)\nappropriate holsters for both pistols (assuming your rimfire pistol does not properly fit your centerfire pistol holster)\n\nIT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SATISFACTORILY COMPLETE THIS COURSE WITH ONLY A RIMFIRE PISTOL! \nDuring the course\, you will use your rimfire pistol as initial practice for a given drill and then transition to your centerfire pistol to demonstrate competency.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Pistol 145 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nmagazines or speed loaders: bring at least THREE (more is better\, especially if you are using a pistol with a capacity of less than 10 rounds)\nholster: a strong side holster that does not collapse when your pistol is drawn (no appendix\, ankle\, shoulder or small-of-back holsters). Either IWB (“inside the waistband”) or OWB (“outside the waistband”) are fine\, but the holster you intend to use for concealed carry would be preferred. An OWB holster is often easier to use if you have never drawn from a holster before but will still allow you to participate fully in the drills we will conduct. The crucial aspect is that your holster MUST hold your firearm securely without letting it move around on your hip; this will necessitate a holster that attaches at TWO POINTS to your gun belt; there are a few holsters that attach to your gun belt at one point and still hold your firearm securely\, but they generally attach over an extended length of your belt effectively simulating two points of attachment.\ngun belt: you will have your pistol on your hip for the entire day. It will seem heavier as the day goes on and a good\, sturdy gun belt will minimize that feeling. A standard belt isn’t going to cut it here; spend a couple of dollars on a quality gun belt if you don’t already have one.\nmagazine carrier (you can get by with putting spare magazines in a pocket\, but a magazine carrier is much preferred)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your pistol\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Pistol 145 begins with an overview of the range rules\, safety procedures and quick reminder of the fundamentals from basic pistol. DESCRIPTION:Rifle 223 (Carbine) Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Rifle 125 or similar class. \nIf you have not attended Rifle 125\, then you should be able to reliably hit a 10″ paper plate from the standing position out to 25 yards\, kneeling at 50 yards\, and prone at 100 yards. You should be able to consistently hit a 3×5 index card at 15 yards while standing. You should be familiar with basic operation of your carbine. If you cannot meet the accuracy suggestion then you may be frustrated at carbine class and be better served learning the fundamentals of marksmanship at a Rifle 125 clinic. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 300 rounds/day \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled Victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events.

SUMMARY:US Army Combat Pistol Qualification - One Day (Camp Atterbury\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:US Army Combat Pistol Qualification Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Pistol 100 (Basic Pistol) or similar. If you plan to draw from the holster at this event\, you should have prior training in how to do so safely such as Revere’s Riders Pistol 145 (Intro to Defensive Pistol) or similar. This is not an introductory event and involves quickly engaging “pop-up” targets. No formal instruction will be provided. \nPistol and Ammunition Required: A drop-safe pistol (centerfire is recommended but rimfire is fine as well) in any of the following calibers: .22LR\, 9x19mm\, .38/.357 Magnum\, .40 S&W and .45 ACP ONLY. If you bring a pistol chambered in any other caliber\, be prepared to be a spectator (this is a Camp Atterbury restriction we are required to follow as civilians on a military base\, not a Revere’s Riders restriction). \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. This COF is as follows: \n\nStage 1 (1 magazine\, 7 rounds)—shooter engages 5 targets presented for 3 seconds each at varying distance\nStage 2 (2 magazines\, 1+7 rounds)—shooter engages 6 targets (including one double presentation) for 3-5 seconds each at varying distance; 8 seconds are allowed for the magazine change before the next target is raised\nStage 3 (1 magazine\,7 rounds)—shooter engages 5 targets (including one double presentation) for 3-5 seconds each at varying distance\nStage 4 (1 magazine\,5 rounds)—shooter engages 4 targets (including one double presentation) for 2-4 seconds each at varying distance\nStage 5 (3 magazines\, 1+7+5 rounds)—shooter engages 10 targets (including three double presentations) for 2-4 seconds each at varying distance; 8 seconds are allowed for each magazine change before the next target is raised\n\nThis COF presents 30 total targets to the shooter who has 40 rounds in total; scoring is via number of target hits and is categorized as follows: \n\nExpert—26 to 30\nFirst Class—21 to 25\nSecond Class—16 to 20\nUnqualified—0 to 15\n\nNew this year: we will be providing all participants with a few dummy rounds in their pistol’s caliber. Those wanting an extra challenge can then load their magazines randomly with dummy rounds and run the CPQC COF. The additional time required to reduce malfunctions will provide an additional level of difficulty. \nThe below video from a previous event at the Camp Atterbury pistol range will give you a good idea of what this event entails: \n \nUS Army Combat Pistol Qualification Range \nThe US Army Combat Pistol Qualification range is designed specifically to accommodate the US Army Combat Pistol Qualification Course (CPQC). Consequently\, the range extends “only” to 30 yards; targets are computer controlled and scored. Drawing from the holster will be allowed at this event for those that have the proper holster and can demonstrate a safe draw and re-holster of their pistol. \nThose who do not wish to draw from the holster may begin each course of fire from the compressed- or low-ready position. \n \nNo Formal Instruction \nWhile there will be no formal instruction at this event\, experienced firearms instructors will be present and can provide limited instruction as needed. However\, this is not a training event and participants should not expect to receive extensive instruction. \nContact the Event Director with any questions prior to registering. \nHistory of Camp Atterbury\, Battle of the Bulge\, First Lieutenant Samuel Woodfill\, Sergeant Alvin York\nWe will take brief breaks throughout the day to tell some history of Camp Atterbury itself\, some of the exploits of the 106th Infantry Division (the “Golden Lions”) during the Battle of the Bulge along with the stories of two Medal of Honor recipients: First Lieutenant Samuel Woodfill (who is one of 67 Medal of Honor recipients born in the state of Indiana) and Sergeant Alvin York. \n\n			\n		First Lieutenant Samuel WoodfillSergeant Alvin York\nAdditional Event Information\nPre-registration is Required\nAll participants must purchase tickets by the DEADLINE of 1700 on April 23\, 2022.  Absolutely no registrations will be allowed after this deadline.\n \nThe unique venue for this event requires that we share your name and other personal information you submit to Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC)\, Military Police and the Range Control office. Your information will not be used in any manner other than to allow your admittance to the installation and to contact you regarding this event. Pre-registration is required so that we can forward your information to CAJMTC in time for the event. \nYou are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. \nRefund Policy\nEvent will be held RAIN or SHINE!\nCamp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. If that happens (it has not in the past) we will contact all participants to reschedule for a later date or issue a refund. Refunds will only be issued for this event due to cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nArrival Time \nYou MUST Arrive On Time\nPlan to arrive NO LATER than 0745. Anyone arriving later than this will not be allowed to participate in the event and your event fees will not be refunded. This is due to the need to meet at Range Control and proceed to the range as a group. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base and you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nIt is recommended that you do NOT inform base security that you have firearms in your vehicle unless specifically asked. It is also recommended that you wait until you are physically on the firing range to load your magazines to avoid any appearance of being “loaded and ready for action” while on-base. \nDirections to Range Control\nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury “delivery gate” to access the military side of the base (major construction is under way at the “main gate”). The “delivery gate” is at Schoolhouse Road to the west of the “main gate” and there is signage on Hospital Road to that effect. \nBase security is now being manned by US Army MPs and they should be treated with the utmost respect. Answer truthfully any questions you are asked; provide any and all identification or paperwork requested (make sure you have your drivers license and proof of insurance with you). \nWhen asked\, tell gate security that you are going to “Range Control”. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways; if the range is “hot”\, such roads should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. \nThere are two acceptable routes to Range Control indicated in blue and red on the map below (note that these are not the most direct routes; Camp Atterbury command has requested all on-base civilian to use these routes to avoid the cantonment areas where Afghan refugees are housed): \n \nRange Control is located just north-east of the intersection of County Line Road and Eggelston Street diagonally across from Himsel Airfield. \nUNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you proceed past any of the placarded gates which indicate entry to the controlled range areas of the base without first checking in with the Event Director at Range Control and obtaining a Camp Atterbury Downrange Pass. \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian on-base lodging is NOT available at this time (again\, due to the presence of Afghan refugees).
