SUMMARY:Intermediate Pistol – Two Day (Midvale\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:This event will be RIMFIRE ONLY and will be held on an indoor range! Please bring your .22LR chambered pistol only; centerfire pistols will not be allowed on the firing line due to range limitations. \nIntermediate Pistol Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites\, but is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to instill pistol marksmanship fundamentals into attendees who’ve taken an entry-level class already and who are familiar with the safe handling and operation of a pistol. If you are totally new to firearms/pistols\, you may be better served to attend our (Basic Pistol) course which has a slower pace. \nYouth 16 – 18 must be accompanied by parent for both days.  Youth under 16 years of age can contact Event Director for evaluation of attendance.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 500/700 rounds for the entire 2-day course. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of ten (10) or more round capacity (bringing additional magazines recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile “battle road.” \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\n$10.00 per person range fee for non members.  Please bring cash with you to cover this fee. \nMake sure to bring a lunch with you as there are no convenient options off the range for getting lunch in the time we have allotted.

SUMMARY:Field Rifle Rimfire-KD – Two Day (Midvale\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:This is a RIMFIRE-ONLY event; we will only allow rifles chambered in .22LR. Please leave your centerfire rifle at home. \nField Rifle Rimfire KD Overview\nThis clinic is designed to challenge attendees to accurately shoot their 22LR rifles to known distances out to 200yds.  You will learn the trajectory\, come-ups\, external ballistics and field shooting challenges with your combination of rifle and .22LR ammo. This will be best achieved with a scoped rifle although open sights are certainly acceptable. \nPrerequisites: Suggested — RR Basic Rifle course or previous experience with similar programs such as  CMP’s Rimfire Sporter or other .22LR distance shooting programs. \nIf you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and the proper use of the GI loop sling\, you will be frustrated at this event. Position instructions and proper sling usage will be only briefly reviewed.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same bullet weight\, velocity\, and manufacturer) for this event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in .22LR (centerfire rifles will not be allowed). It is best if this is a semi-auto rifle but bolt or lever rifles can be accommodated. \nPlease make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds is a good starting point).  We will be sighting in at each distance on Saturday so you can learn your elevation adjustments for each known distance. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship at 25 yards\, learn to apply their skills at greater distances. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle\, their ammo — and their skill level at real distances beyond 25 yards. \nThis “Rimfire-Only” Field Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets out to 200 yds with a .22LR rifle. We will review the basics of IMC\, the ballistics of the .22LR cartridge at various distances\, and other considerations for shooting your .22LR rifle past 25 yards. \nThis event is scheduled for February so the weather will most likely be cold and potentially wet.  Please plan on dressing accordingly.  The firing line is covered but you need to prepare for bad weather as we post/pull targets down range. \nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee that is payable on the day of the event. Please bring cash. \nAdditional Range Information\nFree camping will be available at the range on Friday and Saturday night if you want to challenge the elements.  If not\, participants also have the option to bunk in the main club house starting Friday evening at 6PM. If after reading the event description you would like to participate\, please contact the Event Director to request an invitation. \nMarty Brown Memorial Invitational Overview\nThe Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ rifle match honors Marty Brown\, an instructor with Revere’s Riders who lost a 40-month battle with ovarian cancer in 2017. A portion of match proceeds will be donated to Ovar’coming Together to assist in their programs to support women diagnosed with ovarian cancer as well as funding ovarian cancer research. You can read more about Marty as well as Ovar’coming Together on the Marty Brown Memorial™ page of our website. \nThe comprehensive list of fundraising items for the 7th Annual Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ rifle match is available on the 2023 Marty Brown Memorial Invitational Swag Bags\, Give Aways\, Prizes\, Auctions page. \nMatch Information and Rules\nThe Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ rifle match is an informal 3-position known distance match shot according to the Revere’s Riders Rifle Qualification Test. This is an invitational match and you must be invited to attend. Marksmen will receive an invitation by satisfying one of the following: \n\nshoot a score of Marksman or better on the Revere’s Riders Rifle Qualification Test (must be in the same calendar year as the Invitational)\nsatisfy the Match Director that you are proficient and safe enough to participate\n\nThis is a competition match and no instruction will be provided. \nFor complete match information and rules\, please see the Marty Brown Memorial Invitational Rifle Match Rules page. \nAdditional Event Information\nTicket sales end at 1700 on Nov. 3rd in order for us to get a list of participants to Camp Atterbury security which will allow access to the base. \nTicket price includes all range fees. \nPre-registration is Required\nAll participants must purchase tickets by the DEADLINE of 5:00 PM on November 3\, 2023.  Absolutely no registrations will be allowed after this deadline.  The unique venue for this event requires that we share your name and other personal information you submit to Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC)\, Military Police and the Range Control office. Your information will not be used in any manner other than to allow your admittance to the installation and to contact you regarding this event. Pre-registration is required so that we can forward your information to CAJMTC in time for the event. You are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. \nRefund Policy\nEvent will be held RAIN or SHINE!\nCamp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. Refunds will only be issued for this event due to cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nArrival Time \nYou MUST Arrive On Time\nPlan to arrive NO LATER than 7:45AM. Anyone arriving later than this will not be allowed to participate in the event and your event fees will not be refunded. This is due to the need to meet at Range Control and proceed to the range as a group. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base; you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nDirections to Range Control \nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury main gate to access the military side of the base. When asked\, tell gate security that you are there for the Revere’s Riders event along with any other information gate security requests. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways (if the range is “hot”\, these should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. Range Control is reached by continuing south on the entrance road (Eggleston Street). Range Control will be on your left just before County Road 900 South. Himsel Airfield will be on your right just beyond the intersection of Eggleston Street and CR 900 S.  \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian lodging is available on base for those who wish to stay overnight. DESCRIPTION:Pistol Skills Development Clinic Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites\, but is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to instill marksmanship fundamentals into attendees who’ve taken an entry-level class already and who are familiar with the safe handling and operation of a pistol. If you are totally new to firearms/pistols\, you may be better served to attend our Pistol 100 (Basic Pistol) course which has a slower pace. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 500-700 rounds. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of five or more round capacity (10 round recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. Students will learn: \n\nField Shooting to known distances to include target detection\, target identification and basic ballistics calculation\nIntermediate calculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nData collection for shooting to known distances\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances\nStudents will be able to challenge the Qualification Test\, Battle Rattle\, and/or Field Shoot at actual distance; exact events may vary by venue and class.\n\nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee that is payable on the day of the event. \nAdditional Range Information\nFree camping will be available at the range on Saturday night. The unique venue for this event requires that we share your name and other personal information you submit to Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC)\, Military Police and the Range Control office. Your information will not be used in any manner other than to allow your admittance to the installation and to contact you regarding this event. Pre-registration is required so that we can forward your information to CAJMTC in time for the event. You are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. \nRefund Policy\nEvent will be held RAIN or SHINE!\nCamp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. Refunds will only be issued for this event due to cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nArrival Time \nYou MUST Arrive On Time\nPlan to arrive NO LATER than 7:45AM. Anyone arriving later than this will not be allowed to participate in the event and your event fees will not be refunded. This is due to the need to meet at Range Control and proceed to the range as a group. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base; you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nDirections to Range Control \nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury “delivery gate” to access the military side of the base (major construction is under way at the “main gate”). \nWhen asked\, tell gate security that you are there for the Revere’s Riders event along with any other information gate security requests. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways (if the range is “hot”\, these should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. \nRange Control can be reached by either of two routes: \n\nRED highlighted route — continue south on Schoolhouse Road until you reach the four-way stop at County Line Road; turn left on County Line Road and proceed to the four-way stop at Eggleston Street; Range Control will be on the north-east corner of Eggleston and County Line Road\nBLUE highlighted route — turn left at the first four-way stop onto Headquarters Road; proceed to the four-way stop at Eggleston Street and turn right; Range Control will be on your left just before you reach County Line Road\n\n \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian lodging is available on base for those who wish to stay overnight. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. DESCRIPTION:Rifle 223 (Carbine) Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Rifle 125 or similar class. \nIf you have not attended Rifle 125\, then you should be able to reliably hit a 10″ paper plate from the standing position out to 25 yards\, kneeling at 50 yards\, and prone at 100 yards. You should be able to consistently hit a 3×5 index card at 15 yards while standing. You should be familiar with basic operation of your carbine. If you cannot meet the accuracy suggestion then you may be frustrated at carbine class and be better served learning the fundamentals of marksmanship at a Rifle 125 clinic. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 300 rounds/day \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled Victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events.

SUMMARY:US Army Combat Pistol Qualification - One Day (Camp Atterbury\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:US Army Combat Pistol Qualification Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Revere’s Riders Pistol 100 (Basic Pistol) or similar. If you plan to draw from the holster at this event\, you should have prior training in how to do so safely such as Revere’s Riders Pistol 145 (Intro to Defensive Pistol) or similar. This is not an introductory event and involves quickly engaging “pop-up” targets. No formal instruction will be provided. \nPistol and Ammunition Required: A drop-safe pistol (centerfire is recommended but rimfire is fine as well) in any of the following calibers: .22LR\, 9x19mm\, .38/.357 Magnum\, .40 S&W and .45 ACP ONLY. If you bring a pistol chambered in any other caliber\, be prepared to be a spectator (this is a Camp Atterbury restriction we are required to follow as civilians on a military base\, not a Revere’s Riders restriction). \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. If you have concerns about the safety features of your pistol you should have it inspected by an armorer or gunsmith before class. \nYou should bring\, at a minimum\, 500 rounds of ammunition (more is always better). Incendiary ammunition is prohibited; otherwise\, there are no other ammunition restrictions. \nRequired Equipment: You will be required to have the following equipment to participate in this event: \n\ndrop-safe pistol chambered in .22LR\, 9x19mm\, .38/.357 Magnum\, .40 S&W or .45 ACP\nminimum of 500 rounds of ammunition in your pistol’s caliber (more is always better)\nminimum of 4 pistol magazines (you guessed it\, more is better!)\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nlunch (leaving base for lunch is not feasible)\nsnacks\n\nOptional Equipment: The following optional equipment may be helpful to you during this event but is not required: \n\ncase for your pistol\na towel or other suitable item to place between your pistol and the concrete firing line (if you are shooting from the compressed- or low-ready\, you will be clearing your pistol and leaving it on the concrete firing line between courses of fire)\nholster\, mag carriers and gun belt for your pistol; note that your holster and belt must satisfy the following requirements:\n\neither IWB or OWB (no appendix\, small-of-the-back\, shoulder\, etc. holsters will be allowed)\nholster must position your pistol between the 3 and 5 o’clock position on your waist\nholster must correctly fit your pistol\nholster must completely cover the trigger guard of your pistol\nholster must not collapse when pistol is withdrawn\nyour belt must adequately support the weight of your pistol (this generally excludes nearly all belts not expressly designed for concealed carry use)\nevent staff reserve the right to deny use of any holster deemed a safety risk\n\n\nmagazine loader (Maglula or similar; you will be loading a LOT of magazines)\nfolding chair\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\na hat with brim to protect from flying brass and the sun\nif you wish to collect your own brass\, bring whatever containers/equipment you desire for that purpose. As the US Army Combat Pistol Qualification ranges are actively used to qualify military personnel on their sidearms\, events utilizing those ranges are the most likely to have schedule changes. \nYou will engage the official US Army Combat Pistol Qualification COF (“course of fire”) plus any other COFs that are loaded to the range control computer systems (unfortunately\, we are not allowed to enter our own COFs into the range control computer systems). This COF is as follows: \n\nStage 1 (1 magazine\, 7 rounds)—shooter engages 5 targets presented for 3 seconds each at varying distance\nStage 2 (2 magazines\, 1+7 rounds)—shooter engages 6 targets (including one double presentation) for 3-5 seconds each at varying distance; 8 seconds are allowed for the magazine change before the next target is raised\nStage 3 (1 magazine\,7 rounds)—shooter engages 5 targets (including one double presentation) for 3-5 seconds each at varying distance\nStage 4 (1 magazine\,5 rounds)—shooter engages 4 targets (including one double presentation) for 2-4 seconds each at varying distance\nStage 5 (3 magazines\, 1+7+5 rounds)—shooter engages 10 targets (including three double presentations) for 2-4 seconds each at varying distance; 8 seconds are allowed for each magazine change before the next target is raised\n\nThis COF presents 30 total targets to the shooter who has 40 rounds in total; scoring is via number of target hits and is categorized as follows: \n\nExpert—26 to 30\nFirst Class—21 to 25\nSecond Class—16 to 20\nUnqualified—0 to 15\n\nNew this year: we will be providing all participants with a few dummy rounds in their pistol’s caliber. Those wanting an extra challenge can then load their magazines randomly with dummy rounds and run the CPQC COF. The additional time required to reduce malfunctions will provide an additional level of difficulty. \nThe below video from a previous event at the Camp Atterbury pistol range will give you a good idea of what this event entails: \n \nUS Army Combat Pistol Qualification Range \nThe US Army Combat Pistol Qualification range is designed specifically to accommodate the US Army Combat Pistol Qualification Course (CPQC). Consequently\, the range extends “only” to 30 yards; targets are computer controlled and scored. Drawing from the holster will be allowed at this event for those that have the proper holster and can demonstrate a safe draw and re-holster of their pistol. \nThose who do not wish to draw from the holster may begin each course of fire from the compressed- or low-ready position. \n \nNo Formal Instruction \nWhile there will be no formal instruction at this event\, experienced firearms instructors will be present and can provide limited instruction as needed. However\, this is not a training event and participants should not expect to receive extensive instruction. \nContact the Event Director with any questions prior to registering. \nHistory of Camp Atterbury\, Battle of the Bulge\, First Lieutenant Samuel Woodfill\, Sergeant Alvin York\nWe will take brief breaks throughout the day to tell some history of Camp Atterbury itself\, some of the exploits of the 106th Infantry Division (the “Golden Lions”) during the Battle of the Bulge along with the stories of two Medal of Honor recipients: First Lieutenant Samuel Woodfill (who is one of 67 Medal of Honor recipients born in the state of Indiana) and Sergeant Alvin York. \n\n			\n		First Lieutenant Samuel WoodfillSergeant Alvin York\nAdditional Event Information\nPre-registration is Required\nAll participants must purchase tickets by the DEADLINE of 1700 on April 23\, 2022.  Absolutely no registrations will be allowed after this deadline.\n \nThe unique venue for this event requires that we share your name and other personal information you submit to Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC)\, Military Police and the Range Control office. Your information will not be used in any manner other than to allow your admittance to the installation and to contact you regarding this event. Pre-registration is required so that we can forward your information to CAJMTC in time for the event. \nYou are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. \nRefund Policy\nEvent will be held RAIN or SHINE!\nCamp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. If that happens (it has not in the past) we will contact all participants to reschedule for a later date or issue a refund. Refunds will only be issued for this event due to cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nArrival Time \nYou MUST Arrive On Time\nPlan to arrive NO LATER than 0745. Anyone arriving later than this will not be allowed to participate in the event and your event fees will not be refunded. This is due to the need to meet at Range Control and proceed to the range as a group. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base and you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nIt is recommended that you do NOT inform base security that you have firearms in your vehicle unless specifically asked. It is also recommended that you wait until you are physically on the firing range to load your magazines to avoid any appearance of being “loaded and ready for action” while on-base. \nDirections to Range Control\nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury “delivery gate” to access the military side of the base (major construction is under way at the “main gate”). The “delivery gate” is at Schoolhouse Road to the west of the “main gate” and there is signage on Hospital Road to that effect. \nBase security is now being manned by US Army MPs and they should be treated with the utmost respect. Answer truthfully any questions you are asked; provide any and all identification or paperwork requested (make sure you have your drivers license and proof of insurance with you). \nWhen asked\, tell gate security that you are going to “Range Control”. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways; if the range is “hot”\, such roads should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. \nThere are two acceptable routes to Range Control indicated in blue and red on the map below (note that these are not the most direct routes; Camp Atterbury command has requested all on-base civilian to use these routes to avoid the cantonment areas where Afghan refugees are housed): \n \nRange Control is located just north-east of the intersection of County Line Road and Eggelston Street diagonally across from Himsel Airfield. \nUNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you proceed past any of the placarded gates which indicate entry to the controlled range areas of the base without first checking in with the Event Director at Range Control and obtaining a Camp Atterbury Downrange Pass. \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian on-base lodging is NOT available at this time (again\, due to the presence of Afghan refugees). SUMMARY:Rifle 262 (Rimfire Known Distance / Centerfire Unknown Distance Clinic) 2-Day (Liberty\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Rimfire Known Distance / Centerfire Unknown Distance Clinic Overview\nThis 2-day clinic is designed to familiarize attendees with the basics of shooting known distance (“KD”) and to introduce the concepts of trajectory\, come-ups\, external ballistics\, and field shooting. On the second day\, we will put all this knowledge to work shooting targets at unknown distance (“UKD”). This will be best achieved with scoped rifles although open sights are acceptable. \n\nDay 1—Rimfire Known Distance\, shot with .22LR rimfire rifles (Ruger 10/22\, Marlin 795\, etc.) at shorter distances to save money and time (please only bring .22LR to ease our job in keeping track of cartridge ballistics)\nDay 2—Centerfire Unknown Distance\, shot with centerfire rifles (AR\, AK\, bolt guns\, etc.) at ranges up to 750 yards\n\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Rifle 125 or Rifle 223 (Carbine)\, or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA disciplines. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, you will be frustrated at Rifle 262. Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed. . \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 150 rounds of .22LR (or other rimfire ammunition) and 60 rounds of centerfire (no steel core/AP/etc.). \nIf you’d like to attend this clinic but cannot source ammunition please contact the Event Director prior to the event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need two rifles for this event: \n\nDay 1—a safe rifle chambered in .22LR. On the first day\, we will be firing at reduced distances of 25-100 yards which effectively simulate the challenges of obtaining hits with a centerfire rifle at 100-400 yards. Single-shot\, bolt-action\, lever-action\, semi-auto\, etc.\, are all acceptable. As long as it’s a safe rifle chambered in .22LR you’re good to go!\nDay 2—a safe rifle chambered in your choice of centerfire calibers. ARs\, AKs\, bolt guns\, etc.\, are all plenty good for what we’ll be doing. We’ll take the concepts you learned on your “little rifle” and put them into practice on the big boys!\n\nIf you’d like to attend this clinic but do not have a suitable rifle\, please contact the Event Director prior to the event. \nScope Requirements: This event is designed for scoped rifles though you may attend with other sights. Ideally\, a click-adjustable scope (around 4× fixed magnification\, 2-7×\, 3-9×\, etc. variable magnification for the .22LRs\, bigger is OK for the centerfires). We will be making sight adjustments throughout the day so having a click-adjustable scope will enhance your experience. \nIf you’d like to attend this clinic but do not have a good scope\, please contact the Event Director prior to the event. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Rifle 262 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nA sturdy\, field-expedient rest (bipod/sandbag/pack/bedroll\, etc.; USGI slings are acceptable but not ideal)\nNotebook and Pencil/Pen\nCalculator (you probably have one on your cell phone)\nTape Measure (the fabric or soft plastic ones you find in the craft section are perfect\, small construction type will do)\nhearing protection\neye protection\nHydration\, Lunch & Snacks (water/electrolytes\, light lunch of field-stable foods)\nBag/Rucksack/Pack/Etc. to carry all the above (we’ll be moving throughout the weekend)\nBoots or Sturdy Shoes (we’ll be walking through the field and it may be muddy)\nDressed appropriately (LAYERED!!!) for two days in the field\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or spotting scope\nelectronic range finder\ncompass\nsunscreen/bug spray\ntowel/change of clothes\n\nLoaner Firearms and Scopes: Loaner firearms and scopes suitable for use at this event are generally available but limited. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship and familiarity with their rifles\, learn to conceptualize and implement the fundamentals of field rifle marksmanship. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle — and themselves. \nField Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges out to 750 yards. This class is named for the “MK262” ammunition used by designated marksmen\, but you can be successful at landing hits with ball ammunition and a standard rifle. \nStudents will learn: \n\nField Shooting to known distances to include target detection\, target identification and basic ballistics calculation\nIntermediate calculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nScanning and data collection\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances and how to fill out a range card\nStudents will leave with the knowledge and ability to effectively shoot out to 750 yards and beyond!\n\n \n“Shots that Changed the History of the World”\nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the weekend’s instructional events. If after reading the event description you would like to participate\, please contact the Event Director to request an invitation. \nMarty Brown Memorial Invitational Overview\nThe Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ rifle match honors Marty Brown\, an instructor with Revere’s Riders who lost a 40-month battle with ovarian cancer in 2017. A portion of match proceeds will be donated to Ovar’coming Together to assist in their programs to support women diagnosed with ovarian cancer as well as funding ovarian cancer research. You can read more about Marty as well as Ovar’coming Together on the Marty Brown Memorial™ page of our website. \nThe Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ rifle match is an informal 3-position known distance match shot according to the Revere’s Riders Rifle Qualification Test. This is an invitational match and you must be invited to attend. Marksmen will receive an invitation by satisfying one of the following: \n\nshoot a score of Marksman or better on the Revere’s Riders Rifle Qualification Test (must be in the same calendar year as the Invitational)\nsatisfy the Match Director that you are proficient and safe enough to participate\n\nIf you believe you meet either of the above criteria and would like to participate\, please contact the Event Director using the email address below. \nNo formal instruction will be provided at this event; however\, many participants will be highly skilled rifle marksmen who are usually willing to help in any way they can provided doing so doesn’t detract from their own enjoyment or participation in the event. At present (July 2020)\, this includes the following: \n\nwearing a mask when indoors (masks will not be required outdoors)\nsubmitting to a screening questionnaire before being allowed on base\n\nWe will provide updated information regarding the US Army and Camp Atterbury policies regarding COVID-19 closer to the time of the event. \nCamp Atterbury and Afghan Refugees\nAs you may be aware from recent news coverage\, Camp Atterbury is now hosting several thousand Afghan refugees on base. This has dictated several changes to base policy including the following: \n\ncivilian on-base housing will NOT be available (it is being used to house additional military support personnel)\non-base driving routes are restricted (see cantonment map below for details)\nspeed limits will be subject to greater enforcement due to the presence of Afghan refugees (including children) not familiar with western style vehicular traffic:\n\n25mph maximum speed limit\n10mph speed limit when pedestrians are present\n\n\nphotography in the cantonment area is strictly prohibited; our understanding is that photography is still allowed on the firing ranges\n\nThe bottom line is that Camp Atterbury is much more of a “military base” than it was in the past due to the presence of the Afghan refugees. Please be aware of the above rules\, attempt to follow them to the best of your ability\, and be respectful to all persons on-base. \nAdditional Event Information\nTicket price includes all range fees. \nPre-registration is Required\nAll participants must purchase tickets by the DEADLINE of 5:00 PM on October 29\, 2021.  Absolutely no registrations will be allowed after this deadline.  The unique venue for this event requires that we share your name and other personal information you submit to Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC)\, Military Police and the Range Control office. Your information will not be used in any manner other than to allow your admittance to the installation and to contact you regarding this event. Pre-registration is required so that we can forward your information to CAJMTC in time for the event. You are also responsible for reading the below additional range information specific to Camp Atterbury. Please keep in mind that we are using a military facility and military rules and discipline are in force. \nRefund Policy\nEvent will be held RAIN or SHINE!\nCamp Atterbury is an active military installation\, as such we may have our scheduled access removed as late as the day before the event. Refunds will only be issued for this event due to cancellation of the event by military authorities. Absolutely no refunds will be given for any other reason. \nAdditional Range Information\nArrival Time \nYou MUST Arrive On Time\nPlan to arrive NO LATER than 7:45AM. Anyone arriving later than this will not be allowed to participate in the event and your event fees will not be refunded. This is due to the need to meet at Range Control and proceed to the range as a group. We will not wait for you; plan to be early. \nBase Firearms Policy \nCAJMTC firearms policy—NO LOADED FIREARMS PERMITTED ON BASE. Concealed carry is NOT ALLOWED on base; you may only load a firearm while on a designated range. Before you proceed to to the base entrance and attempt to pass through security\, make sure that all firearms in your vehicle and on your person (don’t forget your concealed carry sidearm) are unloaded\, in a secure case and separated from your ammunition. This is generally Indiana state law (see IC 35-47-2-1). If you are refused entry to the base for any reason\, your event fees will not be refunded. \nIt is recommended that you do NOT inform base security that you have firearms in your vehicle unless specifically asked. It is also recommended that you wait until you are physically on the firing range to load your magazines to avoid any appearance of being “loaded and ready for action” while on-base. \nDirections to Range Control \nYou will be required to pass through the Camp Atterbury “delivery gate” to access the military side of the base (major construction is under way at the “main gate”). The “delivery gate” is at Schoolhouse Road to the west of the “main gate” and there is signage on Hospital Road to that effect. \nBase security is now being manned by US Army MPs and they should be treated with the utmost respect. Answer truthfully any questions you are asked; provide any and all identification or paperwork requested (make sure you have your drivers license and proof of insurance with you). \nWhen asked\, tell gate security that you are going to “Range Control”. IMPORTANT—do NOT attempt to go to the range on your own. There are numerous ranges at Camp Atterbury and any number of them can be “hot” at any given time. There are ranges for pistols\, rifles\, artillery as well as strafing (witnessing an A-10 Warthog engaging in a strafing run is awe inspiring from a distance); some of the ranges involve firing over roadways (if the range is “hot”\, these should be blockaded\, but better safe than sorry). Wandering onto any of these ranges while they are “hot” could lead to a VERY bad day. \nThere are two acceptable routes to Range Control indicated in blue and red on the map below: \n \nThese routes avoid the cantonment areas where the Afghan refugees are housed. \nOvernight Accommodations\nCivilian on-base lodging is NOT available at this time. CIHPRS holds several rifle matches each month at Camp Atterbury including NRA Highpower\, F-class\, etc. If you have an interest in long-range rifle competition (out to 1\,200 yards)\, then CIHPRS is your club.
