SUMMARY:Intermediate Rifle (KD) – One Day (Marion\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate Rifle (AKA: Known Distance) Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested — Our Basic Rifle event or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA disciplines. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, or if you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and sling usage\, you will be frustrated at our Field Rifle (KD). Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 150 to 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same bullet weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in a centerfire caliber of your preference (we will be shooting at distances beyond the effective range of most rimfire calibers). \nPlease make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds or 200 yds preferred\, but any known zero will work).  At the very least\, bore sight your AR-platform or bolt action rifle by pulling the bolt and aligning the sighting system with the bore at a mark 25 yards away.  If you are not zeroed\, we will make an attempt to get you there but starting with a known zero will facilitate your learning. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Intermediate Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nsling for your rifle (while a US GI sling will work perfectly well for this event\, many prefer a more easily adjustable sling)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Intermediate Rifle picks up where the Basic Rifle clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship\, will learn to apply their new skills out to the rifleman’s quarter-mile. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle\, their ammo — and themselves. \nIntermediate Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges\, with a focus on the “Rifleman’s quarter-mile:” 100-400 yards. Students will learn: \n\nShooting to known distances from multiple field positions. Additionsl skills covered will include target detection\, target identification\, adjusting for wind\, and basic ballistics calculations\nCalculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nData collection for shooting to known distances\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances\nStudents will be able to challenge the Qualification Test at actual distances; exact events may vary by venue and class.\n\nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee that is payable on the day of the event. \nAdditional Range Information\nFree camping will be available at the range on Friday night for early arrivers. Participants will have access to the club house for restrooms and limited kitchen support for dinner on Friday night.

SUMMARY:Basic Defensive Rifle - One Day (Seelyville\, IN)
DESCRIPTION:Basic Defensive Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested—Basic Rifle or similar class. \nIf you have not attended Basic Rifle\, then you should be able to reliably hit a 10″ paper plate from the standing position out to 25 yards\, kneeling at 50 yards\, and prone at 100 yards. You should be able to consistently hit a 3×5 index card at 15 yards while standing. You should be familiar with basic operation of your carbine. If you cannot meet the accuracy suggestion then you may be frustrated at carbine class and be better served learning the fundamentals of marksmanship at a Basic Rifle clinic. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 400 rounds/day \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge clinic and\, as such\, the AR-15 is an ideal rifle to bring. However\, any safe semi-automatic carbine can be used (Mini-14\, AK-47\, Tavor\, etc.). \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions on appropriate Basic Defensive Rifle equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nat least four (4) magazines for your carbine (more is better)\nsling for your rifle (a 2-point adjustable sling is recommended although a 1-point sling will work fine if that is your preference; the US GI sling is probably not ideal for this event)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we may shoot from kneeling and other positions)\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Attendees will experience shooting in multiple firing positions at varying distances and will learn modern defensive shooting skills on the AR platform. All firing in this course will be within 200 yards with a focus on the close quarters environment from contact to 50 yards. You will get a workout with all the skills needed to run the carbine from 7-100 yards. At some venues we may work out to the battlesight zero of your carbine (200-300 yards) but the focus is on short range marksmanship. Arlington\, at the time\, was known as Menotomy and more colonial militiamen were killed at Monotomy than any other place that day. \nBritish Redcoats were retreating back to Boston after being trounced at Concord’s North Bridge and Merriam’s Corner when they encountered heavy resistance along the road. DESCRIPTION:Rifle 262 (Field Rifle) Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested — Rifle 125 or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA disciplines. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, or if you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and sling usage\, you will be frustrated at Rifle 262. Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed. Rifle 223 (Carbine) is not required. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 150 to 200 rounds/day. DESCRIPTION:Rifle 262 (Field Rifle) Overview\nPrerequisites: Suggested — Rifle 125 or previous experience with CMP\, High Power or NRA disciplines. \nIf you cannot consistently hit a 5″ circle at 100 yards from the prone position\, or if you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and GI sling usage\, you will be frustrated at Rifle 262. Material from Basic Rifle will be only briefly reviewed. Rifle 223 (Carbine) is not required. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 150 to 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same bullet weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in a centerfire caliber of your preference (we will be shooting at distances beyond the effective range of most rimfire calibers). \nPlease make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds or 200 yds preferred\, but any known zero will work).  At the very least\, bore sight your AR-platform or bolt rifle by pulling the bolt and aligning the sighting system with the bore at a mark 25 yards away.  If you are not zeroed\, we will make an attempt to get you there but a good zero will facilitate your learning. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Rifle 262 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nsling for your rifle (while a US GI sling will work perfectly well for this event\, many prefer a more easily adjustable sling)\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: Rifle 262 picks up where the introductory Rifle 125 clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship\, learn to apply their skills out to the rifleman’s quarter-mile. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle — and themselves. \nField Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets at a variety of ranges\, with a focus on the “Rifleman’s quarter-mile:” 100-400 yards. This class is named for the “MK262” ammunition used by designated marksmen\, but you can be successful at landing hits with any ball ammunition and a standard rifle. Students will learn: \n\nField Shooting to known distances to include target detection\, target identification and basic ballistics calculation\nIntermediate calculation of minutes of angle for precise sight adjustments at all ranges and application to field shooting problems\nData collection for shooting to known distances\nField-expedient ranging of targets at unknown distances\nStudents will be able to challenge the Qualification Test\, Battle Rattle\, and/or Field Shoot at actual distance; exact events may vary by venue and class.\n\nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee that is payable on the day of the event. \nAdditional Range Information\nFree camping will be available at the range on Saturday night. Participants will have access to the club house for restrooms and limited kitchen support for dinner on Saturday night.

Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. SUMMARY:Rifle 125 (Basic Rifle) - One Day (Audubon\, PA)
DESCRIPTION:This event will be .22LR Rifle or Pistol Caliber Carbine ONLY (9x19mm\, .38 Special\, .357 Magnum\, .40 S&W\, .45 ACP); please do NOT bring rifles chambered in any other caliber. \nRifle 125 (Basic Rifle) Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 150-200 rounds. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle or pistol caliber carbine chambered in .22LR\, 9x19mm\, .38 Special\, .357 Magnum\, .40 S&W or .45 ACP. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. DESCRIPTION:Pistol 100 (Basic Pistol) Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 200 rounds/day. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe pistol with at least five round capacity to fully participate in this course. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well.
