DESCRIPTION:Field Rifle Overview\nPrerequisites: Basic Rifle or similar class. \nRifle Requirements: This course is conducted as a Rimfire Known Distance clinic. Any safe\, SCOPED semi-automatic\, bolt or lever gun chambered in .22LR can be used. (Ruger 10/22\, Marlin 795\, Henry Golden Boy\, Savage Rascal\, etc.). Scopes should be 3-9×40 or larger. Fixed power scopes are fine. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 200 rounds\, ideally the same type. THIS IS A RIMFIRE ONLY EVENT! \nRequired Equipment: \n\nhearing protection\neye protection\nmagazines or speed loaders if needed\nbipod\, bag\, pack or field-expedient rest\nlunch (we’ll be staying on the range during lunch break)\nwater and something to replace electrolytes (what plants crave)\nsnacks\na way to take notes\n\nOptional Equipment: \n\nshooting mat\nrifle/optic manual(s)\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nknee/elbow pads (we may shoot from kneeling and other positions)\nfolding chair\nsmall tool kit / cleaning kit\n\nClinic Overview: Attendees will develop a working knowledge of the skills needed to zero a rifle\, trajectory\, internal/external ballistics\, “doping the sights” and how to make hits at known distances. Shots will be made at reduced distances of 25-100 yards\, effectively simulating the difficulty of shooting a centerfire rifle at 100-400 yards. \nAll firing in this course will be done from the prone position off a rest and within 100 yards. We will focus on attaining proper come-ups for your rifle/ammo combination. You will save time & money by learning the concepts at this course and then applying them when shooting bigger rifles at longer distances while hunting\, PRS-style shooting\, defensive carbine\, etc. \nThis class is not physically demanding but we will be walking 200yds and getting into and out of the prone position several times throughout the day. \nAttendees should arrive for registration at 8:30 am. SUMMARY:Field Rifle Rimfire-KD – Two Day (Midvale\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:This is a RIMFIRE-ONLY event; we will only allow rifles chambered in .22LR. Please leave your centerfire rifle at home. \nField Rifle Rimfire KD Overview\nThis clinic is designed to challenge attendees to accurately shoot their 22LR rifles to known distances out to 200yds.  You will learn the trajectory\, come-ups\, external ballistics and field shooting challenges with your combination of rifle and .22LR ammo. This will be best achieved with a scoped rifle although open sights are certainly acceptable. \nPrerequisites: Suggested — RR Basic Rifle course or previous experience with similar programs such as  CMP’s Rimfire Sporter or other .22LR distance shooting programs. \nIf you are unfamiliar with the standing/seated/prone positions and the proper use of the GI loop sling\, you will be frustrated at this event. Position instructions and proper sling usage will be only briefly reviewed.  \nEstimated Ammunition Required: Bring 200 rounds/day. It is important that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same bullet weight\, velocity\, and manufacturer) for this event. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in .22LR (centerfire rifles will not be allowed). It is best if this is a semi-auto rifle but bolt or lever rifles can be accommodated. \nPlease make an effort to get a known zero prior to attending (25 yds is a good starting point).  We will be sighting in at each distance on Saturday so you can learn your elevation adjustments for each known distance. Wind corrections will also be covered at the event. \nRequired Equipment: Please plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for your rifle\nsling for your rifle (the US GI sling will work perfectly for this event\, but if you bring another style\, it should be an easily adjustable sling)\nat least two magazines of ten (10) or more round capacity for your rifle (extras magazines are a good idea)\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\n\nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\nweather appropriate clothing (February weather in Ohio can be anything)\nhat with a brim (to deflect flying hot brass)\nshooting mat\nhigh powered binoculars or spotting scope\nfolding chair\nlunch\nsnacks\nsunscreen and/or bug spray\n\nOverview: A Field Rifle event picks up where the Basic Rifle clinic leaves off. Students\, having mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship at 25 yards\, learn to apply their skills at greater distances. Most importantly\, students will learn about their rifle\, their ammo — and their skill level at real distances beyond 25 yards. \nThis “Rimfire-Only” Field Rifle is focused on practical shooting under field conditions against targets out to 200 yds with a .22LR rifle. We will review the basics of IMC\, the ballistics of the .22LR cartridge at various distances\, and other considerations for shooting your .22LR rifle past 25 yards. \nThis event is scheduled for February so the weather will most likely be cold and potentially wet.  Please plan on dressing accordingly.  The firing line is covered but you need to prepare for bad weather as we post/pull targets down range. \nThe Spirit of 1776\nPicking up where “The Midnight Ride” concludes\, the Spirit of 1776 traces the first full year of the American war for independence. From the high point of the Evacuation of Boston to the lows of early winter of 1776\, follow the Continental Army as they are forced to flee across New York and New Jersey. Learn about the nearly insurmountable challenges they faced and the hope\, faith and daring that pulled victory out of certain defeat. \nIf you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to face down a huge amphibious armada invading New York City\, shiver around a campfire reading about “summer soldiers and sunshine patriots\,” or gamble it all on a desperate crossing of the Delaware River for “Liberty or Death” then you need to hear the Spirit of 1776. \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThere is a $10/person range fee that is payable on the day of the event. Please bring cash. \nAdditional Range Information\nFree camping will be available at the range on Friday and Saturday night if you want to challenge the elements.  If not\, participants also have the option to bunk in the main club house starting Friday evening at 6PM. All participants MUST register online—no walk-ons are permitted \nRifle 125 (Basic Rifle) Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 200 rounds/day. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in .22LR ONLY. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Rifle 125 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nyour rifle chambered in .22LR ONLY– LOANER RIFLES ARE NOT AVAILABLE at this event\nsling for your rifle (a 1¼” US GI sling\, Magpul RLS\, “Ching”\, or M-1907 slings are strongly preferred as our instruction will be specific to these sling types; SOME loaner slings MAY be available at the event). Talon makes high-quality sling swivels (inch and quarter) that are comparable in price to their more cheaply made counterparts\nat least two magazines for your rifle\, 8 (10 round) magazines are recommended\na way to take notes; given the fact that we work thru all-weather “Rite In The Rain” pads are a good option\, as are spiral bound 3″x5″ cards found inexpensively at department stores when carried in baggies. Also\, bring pencils/pens. Remember the “winner” is not the shooter who gets the highest score\, but the shooter who brings home the most information and practices!\nhearing protection; recommend having both multiple sets of foam earplugs and headset type hearing protection on hand\neye protection; clear or amber lenses recommended for peep sights and overcast weather\, dark lenses for sunny and snowy weather\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal); minimum 2 gallons per day\, please. Nalgene-type water bottles refilled from bulk water work better and create less trash than disposable water bottles; Camelback-type hydration pouches are discouraged in below-freezing weather; big insulated sippy-cups with your favorite (non-coffee) hot beverage are also encouraged\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose-fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)). Long underwear with layers over it protecting from cold and wind is a smart way to go. Safety colors are always a plus. Cold-weather boots preferred; no sneakers/sandals/open-toe shoes.\nshooting mat\, foam camping pad\, carpet remnant\, or similar; nothing inflatable. Some loaners may be available first-come first-served; please call to reserve\nkneepads\, preferably with a plastic cap\nsome kind of camp/folding chair is a must\nwe have a working lunch; please bring something shelf-stable (bars/cans/pouches; or in a sealed container) and not too heavy. Snacks (granola bars\, etc are better than loose chips-type) are also good to have\nmagic marker; contractor-grade Sharpie preferred\nknowledge to service and safely operate YOUR rifle\nziplock baggies of all sizes are handy for waterproofing ammo/gear\, and a MUST for packing out your trash\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition is of the same type (i.e. same weight\, type\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Standard velocity (approximately 1150fps) round nose 40gr (e.g.\, CCI Standard Velocity) target ammo often brings the best results. Shooting will primarily be at 25 yards. \nPlease have your rifle ready to go for this shoot with everything (sights/scopes/slings) attached. We are NOT gunsmiths/armorers\, and cannot steal time from your fellow shooters to mess with your rifle. \nOptional Equipment: The following equipment is not required but may come in handy at the event: \n\ncase for your rifle\nstapler (and extra staples) to attach your target to the backer board\ntarps make picking up brass easier\nTech Sights makes a GI-style peep sight far superior to stock iron sights for target shooting if your eyes are young enough to take advantage. Optics are a must for most of us old farts; A&A Optics is a great place to go if you have questions. Red/green/etc dot scopes are NOT recommended as the dot is usually larger than the target\, obscuring it\nelbow pads\ncleaning supplies (bore snake\, etc) are always smart to have\nwhite trash bag or white towel (cover your rifle to protect from rain/sun)\nin an event that challenges both shooter and rifle\, it never hurts to bring a spare rifle\n\nLoaner Firearms: NOT AVAILABLE at this event \nOverview: This is our signature offering\, based on traditional American riflecraft that teaches “Hits Count!” It is appropriate for a wide breadth of student skill levels. SUMMARY:Pistol Skills Development Clinic  – Two Day (Midvale\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:This event will be RIMFIRE ONLY and will be held on an indoor range! Please bring your .22LR chambered pistol only; centerfire pistols will not be allowed on the firing line due to range limitations. \nMinors between the ages of 16-18 are welcome to attend but MUST be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of the event. \nPistol Skills Development Clinic Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites\, but is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to instill marksmanship fundamentals into attendees who’ve taken an entry-level class already and who are familiar with the safe handling and operation of a pistol. If you are totally new to firearms/pistols\, you may be better served to attend our Pistol 100 (Basic Pistol) course which has a slower pace. \nNone \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 500/700 rounds. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of ten or more round capacity (bringing additional magazines recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. DESCRIPTION:Pistol Skills Development Clinic Overview\nPrerequisites: This course has no formal prerequisites\, but is a fast-paced program covering a lot of instructional points. The course is designed to instill marksmanship fundamentals into attendees who’ve taken an entry-level class already and who are familiar with the safe handling and operation of a pistol. If you are totally new to firearms/pistols\, you may be better served to attend our Pistol 100 (Basic Pistol) course which has a slower pace. \nEstimated Ammunition Required: 500-700 rounds. \nPistol Requirements: You will need a safe semi-automatic pistol with a minimum of two (2) functioning magazines of five or more round capacity (10 round recommended)\, to fully participate in this course. Pistols should be of a modern\, drop safe design. \nOlder single action pistols manufactured before the 1980s and lacking a transfer bar safety are the most common type of pistol that lack drop safe design features\, as do some military surplus imports from Eastern bloc countries and Taurus PT-series pistols not fixed during an international safety recall in 2015. These pistols may discharge if dropped and pose a potential safety hazard to our volunteers and students\, and are not permitted. Magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Bring whatever rifle you have and we will work with you. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Rifle 125 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\nyour rifle – LOANER RIFLES ARE NOT AVAILABLE at this event\nsling for your rifle (a 1¼” US GI sling\, Magpul RLS\, “Ching”\, or M-1907 slings are strongly preferred as our instruction will be specific to these sling types; SOME loaner slings MAY be available at the event). Talon makes high-quality sling swivels (inch and quarter) that are comparable in price to their more cheaply made counterparts\nat least two magazines for your rifle\, 8 (10 round) magazines are recommended\na way to take notes; given the fact that we work thru all-weather “Rite In The Rain” pads are a good option\, as are spiral bound 3″x5″ cards found inexpensively at department stores when carried in baggies. Also\, bring pencils/pens. Remember the “winner” is not the shooter who gets the highest score\, but the shooter who brings home the most information and practices!\nhearing protection; recommend having both multiple sets of foam earplugs and headset type hearing protection on hand\neye protection; clear or amber lenses recommended for peep sights and overcast weather\, dark lenses for sunny weather\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal); minimum 2 gallons per day\, please. Nalgene-type water bottles and Camelback-type backpack hydration pouches refilled from bulk water work better and create less trash than disposable water bottles\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose-fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)). Long trousers\, long-sleeve shirts\, and Boonie caps backed up by foul weather gear protecting from sun/wind/rain/cold/bugs are a smart way to go. Standard velocity (approximately 1150fps) round nose 40gr (e.g.\, CCI Standard Velocity) target ammo often brings the best results. DESCRIPTION:A huge “Thank You” to Revere’s Rider’s for sponsoring the Marty Brown Memorial fundraiser to support Ovarian Cancer! I had limited rifle and scope experience coming into this class and I was very nervous shooting with people that had more experience. The training that I received in this class was just what I needed. The instructors were great and very patient. They answered all of my questions and encouraged me to try some things that I had not done before. I even won a Challenge Shoot! I would recommend this class to any experience level and especially to women. You won’t regret taking it and you will be helping out a wonderful cause! DESCRIPTION:Rifle 125 (Basic Rifle) Overview\nPrerequisites: None \nEstimated Ammunition Required: About 200 rounds/day. \nRifle Requirements: You will need a safe rifle chambered in a rimfire caliber (.22LR\, .17HMR\, etc.) or a “pistol caliber carbine” (PCC) chambered in 9x19mm\, .38 S&W/.357 Magnun\, .40 S&W or .45 ACP. Note that centerfire rifle calibers will not be allowed due to restrictions for the range we will be using. Loaner rifles are generally available; if you need a loaner rifle\, please indicate such when filling out your ticket information. \nMagazine-fed semi-automatic rifles generally work best for our classes\, but any other type of rifle (tube-fed semi-automatic\, lever-action\, bolt-action\, etc.) can be used as well. Note that your pistol caliber carbine (and rifle as well) should have sling mounts in order for you to fully benefit from our instruction at this event. \nRequired Equipment: Please review our suggestions for appropriate Rifle 125 equipment and plan to bring the following: \n\ncase for your rifle\nat least two magazines for your rifle\na way to take notes\nhearing protection\neye protection\nplenty of your preferred method of hydration (both plain water and something to replace electrolytes you will lose via sweating is ideal)\nclothing appropriate for the weather (loose fitting clothing\, especially around the neck\, is discouraged as hot brass can lodge against the skin and cause a burn)\n\nIt is helpful that all ammunition be of the same type (i.e. same weight\, manufacturer\, etc) for this event. Shooting will primarily be at 25 yards. Paul Revere did not ride alone – many individuals played crucial roles in the events of April 19th\, 1775. \nThis history presentation begins with alarm riders warning “the Regulars are out!” You’ll hear about the dramatic stand on Lexington Green and the “shots heard ’round the world” at Concord’s North Bridge. The tale concludes with harrowing life-or-death choices made along the 17 mile “battle road.” \nThis exciting tale will be woven throughout the day’s marksmanship events. \nAdditional Event Information\nThis event is open to the public and is appropriate for all ages that can safely handle a rifle. \nAll participants must have eye and ear protection. \nAll rifles must be cased unless on the firing line. \nAdditional Range Information\nThis event will be on bay 4 of the 25 yard range. Bottled water is provided for all participants. \nA $5.00 range fee is required for all participants.
